Take advantage of that and stop doing what others expect from you. It’s okay to be the quiet one in any gathering. That’s who you are and if your coworkers or other people don’t like that, then that means that you’re simply not meant to fit in with them anyway. You could never fit in with a group of people who critisize or reject you because of who you are anyway so why bother?

and it’s not so much teaching them how to be more assertive and use the word no
its to teach them to love themselves take enough time to themselves to hear themselves and to learn boudaries slowly
then assertiveness and no will also come more naturally
but in an extrovert world that’s why it’s so hard to

Very significant issue. Those who have introvert or semi introvert kids know how sensitive it can be to persuade or insist them to do something that is not part of their nature. It is always wise to give them space & let them decide how, what & when they would choose to or not to according to their temperament. Many introverts at younger age become actively social as they grow older. No need to worry or rush..!!

I’m so freaking sad and pissed off about this news. That poor girl, just imagining her being all anxious in that overly social environment and those stupid people telling her to get drunk to have some supposed kind of ‘fun’ is making me cringe. If she had been more assertive and accepted for who she was, she would have been more capable of saying a big f@cking NO to everyone and instead focus on doing her own thing. But the poor girl was probably just too pressured and mentally forced to perform as a ‘social butterfly’ just to feel accepted by someone. I hope she rests in peace now that the world made sure she couldn’t find peace here. R.I.P Kenneka, my best wishes and condolences to the family and friends.
P.S. We gotta teach ourselves and other introverts out there how to be more assertive, not only of their dreams but mostly about their nature and themselves. We need to teach introverts the word NO, when and how to use it and how to not fear using it. Our health and happiness is more important than any social gathering or acceptance in some stupid group.

Back in the day when I drank more, I knew my limit: just enough to get a pleasant buzz. Anything beyond that, and I get very sleepy… which is what may well have happened to this girl. People forget that alcohol is a depressant.

I can see an introvert at a party drinking out of boredom or frustration, just because it seems the thing to do, and it’s something to do. Even for extroverts, parties aren’t the best places to socialize; the music is loud, and the whole environment can be chaotic. For introverts, it’s the Ninth Circle of Hell.

Plus, was there an autopsy done on her? There’s no telling what she could have ingested (intentionally or not) that evening.

Regardless, I hope her family finds peace and closure. I can hardly imagine what they’re going through.
