Every once in awhile there’s an odd feeling that hits me. As a child I used to have such episodes that I now recognize as panic attacks. But occasionally I still get these unexplained waves of sadness. One such wave hit me very hard; I remember it well because it was just a couple of days before 9/11.

In reply to Amy. Amy - this was exactly what I was going to say. CS Lewis talked about this a lot in Abolition of Man. Understand that believing doesn't rid us of this yearning, but gives it direction, and a hope for peace. That the yearning is for a place we know, but seemed to have forgotten, like a dream.

problem is I get tired of being “haunted” by that feeling. It may be the kind of feeling that leaves me unfulfilled at the time of my death and that worries me. Like reaching the end of a movie or book and not being given an ending.
