It takes an introvert to really understand cats. As far as I’m concerned, that’s exactly why extroverts claim to hate cats (kind of like how they misunderstand and are uncomfortable in the presence of introverts).

I was once told by a friend that I reminded her of a cat…that my movements are the same. After pondering on that, I agreed lol. I am an animal lover in general, however have always appreciated and respected cats. I grew up mainly with dogs around, though had the pleasure of having a cat in high school. His sole purpose was to ward off rodents, as my mother otherwise nearly hated cats, but he became my friend. He and I bonded immediately and developed a special relationship…we simply understood each other. On many occasions I’ve had stray cats approach me or wind up on my doorstep. Many people express hating cats, describing them as sneaky. Like introverts, cats are just misunderstood.

I like to walk in the evenings and I have met a couple of cats that respond in this way, I appreciate their attention so much, like you at this time I cannot have a cat . Thanks so much for this,good to know others have these connections too.

She didn’t take much notice of me, she was always aloof and seemed unfriendly. Then when I was 18 I went round to visit the family again. I hadn’t seen them in the intervening years. Tabitha went insane. Yowling and jumping on me, purring and rubbing her head on me. Everyone stared in surprise- what on earth was wrong with this normally aloof cat? The only reason we could think of was that she remembered me from 12 years ago. Obviously I looked totally different and was a different size but she must have known my smell or voice or something… Astounding.

Though he wasn’t black like my avatar here, but a mixture of brown tones striped all over his fur. But that cat and I immediately clicked like you did, Cati. The feeling was somewhat enigmatic and overwhelming. I acted accordingly to some online guide about cat behavior that stated that the less you first pay attention to a cat (like eye contact), the more the cat will to you. When the cat came and met my family, I was the last one he approached. Then suddenly he was sitting on my lap and headbutted me which he didn’t do to anyone else. Thus, began a beautiful friendship.

I’m pretty sure I end up being a stereotypical cat lady. Anyone? ^^;

Just like we can be as quirky and adventurous as the best of them…… around people we are comfortable with, sometimes, when we feel like it. I love that you recognize and have an understanding about your cat’s introvert tendencies! <3
