I thought I was alone in feeling that way. Social media only puts obligation on me to socialize without thought or reason. I would rather continue without social media.

In my almost two years on Facebook I deleted my posts after a maximum of three days. Social media has totally overwhelmed me and I have not been using any for more than a year. As a web developer, I continue to work on my digital exit, which is not quite simple. At the moment, I am looking for a new, real companion who drives me.

All of my friends don’t use Facebook because they hate it for similar reasons. An nearly all of them are extroverts!

I’m 25 years old and I deactivated my facebook and whatsapp accounts, I deleted my twitter app and I won’t be tweeting anymore, and I never bothered joining instagram. The only reason I’m on telegram is because my career probably depends on me being in that telegram group, where I still don’t share my personal info. Social media is great for some people but not for me.

I got sick of seeing so many posts from friends who were really my wifes or daughters friends. After my wife passed I deactivated my Facebook account and opened another one in an assumed name. I post very little, follow the pages I want to follow and enjoy the online peace and quiet. Only my daughter knows who I am and she will never tell anyone.

This is why I deactivated my facebook, due to all of the reasons you stated. It’s refreshing when someone understands that a lack of privacy is uncomfortable. Some of us feel happier without facebook. 🙂

Thanks for this article. I’m an INFJ and I’m ok with some of these, but I can totally relate to number 10. If it gets really annoying I usually leave the chat group.
